I am so happy. Things are awesome. After at least a week and a half, we finally got in with the Pineda family, and we had a great lesson! Hna Pineda is really loving the BOM so much and even though she’s not reading a lot, she’s reading every second she gets. Sometimes it’s one verse, other times it’s a couple, but what’s really got me excited is she’s reading for understanding and going back when she doesn’t understand something. Normally for investigators, we have to tell them that it’s okay just to read for five minutes or a couple verses, but Hermana Pineda has it down already. She’s also able to explain to us what is going on when we go over reading assignments. She got the basic idea of Lehi’s tree of life vision AND found the personal application in her life all on her own! The husband came home from work at the end of the lesson and we found out that even though we haven’t taught him with his wife but one time, he’s been doing the reading, too, and his wife is explaining what things mean for him!!! I am so excited at how much they are progressing and every time I got to teach them, my testimony of the things we teach is strengthened because I can see it working in their lives!!!! Also, they came to church of their own accord yesterday! We didn’t extend the invitation to come to church this last time, just gave them another reading assignment, and they texted us halfway through sacrament! They made it for the last speaker, and it was super cool because the speaker was talking on the Doctrine of Christ, which was the main subject of the passage we left them to read next. When Hna Pineda understood that, she got so excited and grabbed my hand! They couldn’t stay for the rest of church, but they said little by little they’ll come a little longer each time. I could think of nothing that would make me happier as a missionary! It is so much better that they are progressing at their own pace than not at all because we are pressuring them.
Being a missionary is one of the best choices I have ever made. I love all the people we come in contact with. They are all incredible and I love them so much!
