Week 40: Members as Missionaries

So, we got a text from our zone leaders earlier in the week saying that we had gotten a special invitation to go to Mission Leadership Conference up in Albuquerque! Usually only Sister Training Leaders and Zone Leaders get to go to that in preparation for zone trainings and zone conferences. So on Thursday night, we got picked up by zone leaders in El Paso and drove the 4 hours all the way up to ABQ.
The MLC was incredible. We had Brother Lee Donaldson, the mission president during the time The District 2 was formed, come and speak to us. It was a super awesome. I learned a super lot. But one thing really stuck with me.
Missionary work is changing and the Lord is hastening His work.
But the thing of it is that members need to be missionaries. They need to be doing missionary work. That is how the work goes faster. That is the most effective way to do missionary work. When members are out talking to people, sharing the gospel, talking about their beliefs, that’s how missionaries find the most prepared investigators. We. Have. To. Share. This. Message! It’s a section we teach when we teach commandments: Missionary work. Missionary work is a commandment! Sharing the gospel as full blown members is a commandment! The missionary schedule change, the changes that are coming to missionary work in the future are all zeroed in on transitioning missionaries from being a missionary to being the fellowship for investigators. The Lord needs member missionaries, hence the age change. Hence the influx of missionaries. Hence several talks in conference about it.
If we are not sharing the gospel, we are breaking a commandment. And in these last days, it is more imperative than ever to keep this commandment. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is the Christ, and we need to make sure as many as our brothers and sisters as possible will recognize Him when He comes. We owe it to them. They knew before they came here that they would not be born with the message, and we put our arms around them in the pre-existence and promised we would share it with them so they could come home, too. We have to share this message.
This work is so important. This message is so important. It’s the only way we can bring our brothers and sisters home. We have to help them.
So do something. Do something today. Go to mormon.org and share a video about our beliefs. Serve someone and talk of Christ. Find a way to share this message of happiness.
You’ll be surprised at who will accept.
